Discussing elk migration, population growth, and travel management. The NRLS workgroup and the Crawford Gunnison Sage-Grouse (GUSG) Working Group co-sponsored a field trip in April to the North Rim area to share both groups' efforts with a broader audience. Participants, including local landowners and grazing permittees, spent the early morning viewing lek sites. The group then met at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park's North Rim Ranger Station where Dan Huisjen, NRLS Steering Committee Chairperson, presented information on the NRLS workgroup's progress and plans for coordinated projects in the future, and Doug Homan, coordinator for the Crawford GUSG Working Group, explained the current state of the Crawford GUSG lek and the research that is be undertaken. Several of the attendees were interviewed for a video documentary that the Audubon Society is filming as a part of the Together Green Grant that the Crawford GUSG Working Group was successful in receiving.
